Dear Mr Taylor

Thank you for your e-mail dated 21 December regarding the appointment of the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner and the role of the Police and Crime Panel.

Firstly I apologise for the time taken to respond to you about this issue.

In your e-mail you state that you believe that the Police and Crime Panel went beyond its statutory remit within its confirmation letter on 27 November 2012 to me.

Legally the Police and Crime Panel have a wide discretion in decisions relating to its response in considering the Deputy appointment and therefore I do not consider that there is any legal point involved.

For this reason I do not proposed to take this matter any further.

Thank you again for your letter. Please do not hesitate to get into contact with me if I can be of any further assistance.

Yours

[R M Jones]
